Grass estudou artes em D\u00fcsseldorf e tamb\u00e9m em Berlim, alternava literatura com escultura e artes gr\u00e1ficas e era conhecido como um dos principais representantes do \u201cteatro do absurdo\u201d da Alemanha. Sempre se manteve fiel \u00e0 arte, criava as ilustra\u00e7\u00f5es das capas de seus livros. Ele faleceu em 2015 aos 87 anos na cidade de L\u00fcbeck, na Alemanha.<a href=\"https:\/\/goethebrasilia.org.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/51flBmCvApL._SX312_BO1204203200_.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-9571 \" src=\"https:\/\/goethebrasilia.org.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/51flBmCvApL._SX312_BO1204203200_-189x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goethebrasilia.org.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/51flBmCvApL._SX312_BO1204203200_-189x300.jpg 189w, https:\/\/goethebrasilia.org.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/51flBmCvApL._SX312_BO1204203200_.jpg 314w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sua estreia na literatura foi com \u201cO Tambor\u201d (Die Blechtrommel, 1959) obra duramente criticada e queimada em D\u00fcsseldorf por ter sido considerada pornogr\u00e1fica, contendo cenas \u201clibertinas\u201d. Um dos pol\u00edticos de cultura do regime comunista, o escritor Hermann Kant, criticou a obra como um livro que \u201cpassa dos limites na imagina\u00e7\u00e3o do anormal e do monstruoso\u201d<sup>[1]<\/sup>. Mais tarde tornou-se um best-seller da literatura mundial e considerada uma das obras liter\u00e1rias inesquec\u00edveis do s\u00e9culo 20. Em 1980 sob a dire\u00e7\u00e3o de Volker Schl\u00f6ndorff estreou nos cinemas alem\u00e3es a adapta\u00e7\u00e3o da obra de Grass. \u201cO Tambor\u201d foi a primeira produ\u00e7\u00e3o cinematogr\u00e1fica alem\u00e3 do p\u00f3s-guerra a conquistar um Oscar.<a href=\"https:\/\/goethebrasilia.org.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/41x4-Toas9L._SX308_BO1204203200_.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-9569 \" src=\"https:\/\/goethebrasilia.org.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/41x4-Toas9L._SX308_BO1204203200_-186x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"105\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goethebrasilia.org.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/41x4-Toas9L._SX308_BO1204203200_-186x300.jpg 186w, https:\/\/goethebrasilia.org.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/41x4-Toas9L._SX308_BO1204203200_.jpg 310w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 105px) 100vw, 105px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Em 1999 recebeu o Pr\u00eamio Nobel de Literatura pelo conjunto de sua obra. Era considerado um dos mais importantes escritores contempor\u00e2neos e um dos principais do p\u00f3s-Guerra na Alemanha. Sempre foi um escritor engajado politicamente e estava envolvido em debates intelectuais com temas atuais e temas hist\u00f3ricos pol\u00eamicos.
